Pre 2009

Didn't have a lot of time to work on the beast. I was considering going electric with her but any effort I put out to get info on what I might desire in an AC motor sadly came back with absolutely no response, so she sat in the garage for around 4 years while I kind of poked at her once in a while. I did manage to put in a quad headlight system which I think looks pretty impressive and unique. I also went for a solid roof because some unit with the intelligence of week old lunch meat slashed my 2 week old rag top in order to break into an unlocked vehicle and attempt to steal my stereo. After being completely baffled with that they made off with a $2.00 hair brush. What amazes me is there are actually laws that protect them from me!

Some work I did on a removable rear hard top to compliment the hard bikini top. Still requires a lot of work to finish as it will have a trunk lid.
July 2009

New engine & tranny mounts for a Toyota 3.1L V6 taken from a '92 SR5 4runner. Upon placing the engine I discovered that there was about 1.5 inches of clearance between the oil pan and front differential. This caused me some concern!
This led to a spring over conversion which led to an axle swap conversion because if I was going higher I wanted to go wider. Having a vehicle that is prone to falling over is not my idea of fun. This led to... well more on that later.

As the '92 donor vehicle had IFS I had to purchase an older front diff from a local boneyard. Cost $400 CAD. After getting the diff home I discovered it was in need of a major knuckle rebuild. Great more money! Oh well, during the rebuild I also included a set of Lockrite lockers (one of the reasons I didn't really want to swap axles in the first place). The parts for these diffs were found at North Shore Off Road Centre (www.trail-gear.ca), Wil offers exceptional and courteous service and I have been very pleased to deal with him.
